I have been a very satisfied client of Greenback since 2018 when I had the good fortune to have had Padma assigned to me as my dedicated accountant and she has been assisting me ever since. She is the consummate professional, extremely knowledgeable, responsive and personable and she always has my best interests at heart. Initially, she assisted me with streamlined filing procedures and FBAR filings and then she guided me through the complications of moving overseas and filing as a dual citizen. All of which I found to be very challenging. I have no hesitation in recommending Greenback, most especially Padma who has been a godsend, quite honestly I don't know what I'd do without her. Greenback took the headache out of me by undertaking to do only that part of the international reporting that I needed. The exchange of information is well organized, without formalism. Rakhy built a work schedule in accordance with my wishes, did everything on time and efficiently, and commented on several provisions of the legislation along the way. When I moved from the USA to Europe I was very worried about doing my taxes as and expat. My accountant at Greenback was super friendly and held my hand all through the experience last year. I used them again this year and it was even easier. I absolutely recommend them if you're an expat.
I am an expat working overseas in Japan. We have special exemptions from the government for earned income exclusions for overseas work. I thought I needed special tax preparation services to handle that but that is not the case. I don't know about this company as a whole but they did not do anything special considering they are a COUPLE HUNDRED dollars more than turbo tax. You would think that you are getting superior service for your money. Every extra form you have to submit is extra money (i.e. rental properties, etc...) I had little to no contact with the accountant who did my taxes and she waited until the a few hours before the deadline to send me my taxes for review. My accountant refused to submit some charitable contributions because she "interpreted" the tax code differently then i did. If she would have told me that in the many weeks proceeding the moment at the end of tax day when she finally decided to send me my return for my review, then i would have used a different service (probably TurboTax and saved a couple hundred dollars). They promote this amazing, quality, and all encompassing service but in reality they suck and they only email you. YOU CANT EVEN HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH THE ACCOUNTANT! SERIOUSLY?! ABSOLUTE GARBAGE tax service! She is probably a nice person but their business model and the way my taxes were handled/prepared was bad. Last point is that I have never, ever submitted a review. I have to submit an amendment to my taxes because there is a $7000 difference between what i am owed and what I received. Because of that I am submitting this review. Take heed and use TurboTax... WAY BETTER SERVICE, ONE THIRD THE PRICE!

What a great experience from start to finish! Daria is an excellent CPA who always helps me through my tax situation. Working overseas, owning a business, and owning property can get complicated, but she made the process effortless and was always able to accomplish everything in a timely manner.
Our Accountant Padma Gunupati is always very supportive and helpful. Every year working with her is always very pleasant, supportive and timely experience. She always sets the expectations with us and is very thorough in the process. The only reason why I didn't rate 5 stars is the back to back increase of cost for services in the last 2 years. I understand that increase scope of complexity with taxes can affect the cost of services however I would also think that complexity can be mitigated by technology.
I was very fortunate to have picked this service for my taxes. Since I realized the need to file quite late and had no assistance or referrals for a service I had to trust Greenback expat tax services would do a good job and take care of me and fortunately they did not disappoint me Thank God! My accountant the service appointed to me was excellent and helpful and quite patient while at the same time encouraging to go forward with completing all the paperwork.
