I used the size measurement tool meticulously. I ordered my shoes. They were too small. I wanted to replace with a larger size. I was very excited about these shoes. Shipping is not cheap as an add on to delivery of these shoes as it is. And then they charged me full shipping cost to return the shoes even if I wanted to upside. I paid around $15 to return them. I'm never buying from this website again. It's not worth rolling the dice on whether or not your going to have to pay triple of more until you get the correct size. Because you can bet with this customer philosophy you are going to have to pay a third time for your new pair to get to you. So a $150 pair of shoes could cost you at least $190... possibly another $30 if you need to change again. Also wouldn't it make sense to track sales and offer free returns until you know your sizing for the brand. If they want to gouge you on shipping ... that can wait until you should know what the sizing is for this brand.
Great fitting bike shoes are a must for comfortably cycling and I’ve had many shoes that just weren’t wide enough for my feet. On long rides this led to agony. The Lake Extra Wide size fit beautifully and makes riding a pleasure.
Prompt shipping. MX169 shoes fit well and are very comfortable. On the one hand I like that they can be used with flat or SPD pedals, however overall I do think it would be better to have distinct shoes with different rubber compounds and surface features for each pedal type. It's hard to maintain contact with flat pedals on rough ground.
Lake website recommended a specific pair of wide fit shoes based on my feet dimensions. Paid £200 for them and the shoes have proved to be very uncomfortable. The customer services have advised due to shape of my feet the shoes were not advisable and to correct the problem offered a 20% discount for me to buy another pair of their shoes but no refund on the pair purchased, also exacerbated by fact they would not let me leave a negative review here via their direct rating request. Gone back to my old Mavic shoes, will attempt to resell these and will never either buy from Lake again or buy shoes without physically trying them on. Do not trust Lakes sizing guide or webpage as apparently if your foot shape is not normal it does not work.
The CX219 wide fit shoes are excellent if you suffer from hot foot (which I do). The wide fitting relieves the pressure across the wide part of your foot, but the heels still fit well. The shoes are light and stiff, with great power transfer. Plus when I found a fault with my original pair, Lake replaced them immediately via the excellent Velo28 at Cramlington, who fitted the cleats expertly on the new pair.
I live in the USA and these are my go-to cycling shoes. They are well-made and as I have a wide foot, they are the ONLY company I have found to date that makes shoes that fit properly. You need to read their sizing information carefully (ask them for help if needed) but their customer service is excellent, so you can't go wrong.
Lake have a really helpful and useful website that talks you through the various types, shapes, and sizes of shoe they have. Following their guidance, I measured my feet (it is surprising how much bigger my left is than my right!) and did this several times over to ensure I was accurate. I then compared this to their charts detailing which shoes would be good for me, and went with the CX201. Great shoes, excellent buying experience.
