Lomi Quality Issue

Lomi Quality IssueVERY DISAPPOINTED! BUYER BEWARE. We purchased a Lomi 2 one year ago and paid over $400 including a three year warranty. The unit started to leak about one month ago and Lomi requested that we change the filters and send them videos of the unit operating. We did what was asked of us. They offered to replace our unit, but NOT in the color white that we need. They only have other colors in that model that will not look appropriate as we leave it out permanently on our countertop.We asked them to replace our unit with the Lomi 3 in white which they declined to do. They want us to pay another $325 out of pocket. The extended warranty is a SCAM. What is the point of offering it if you won’t honor it with a like kind unit? Of course color is important when it sits out on the countertop. This is NOT FAIR and we are so disappointed in Lomi customer service.

CROOKS !!!!

They do not make it easy to cancel their automatic filter replacement subscription.The cost of their pelleted activated carbon is more than 9x more costly than what I can get online. I tried to cancel the automated Subscription in March 2025, sent email then. They acknowledged my request by responding by email where they attempted to convince me that I would lose warranty. At that point I didn't care. I had received 3 shipments $60 US translating into avg cost $90 Cdn. They charged me again Sep 6 /25 for yet another shipment. I sent them another email; they acknowledged receipt ... and once again talked about the benefits I would forfeiting. I finally found a link (25 minutes later) where I THINK I have "Formally" been able to cancel. The email request should have been enough.Really think a class action lawsuit should be started.

Great Product, But Cheaply Made - Do Not Buy!

I'm really quite sad that I have to give a single star as my very appropriate rating, because I actually love the product. It's been a great use to me in my home, but unless you want to spend $400-$500 every year, avoid this product like the plague. I backed this product on Kickstarter, way back when they were just getting started. It worked great for a little over a year, at which point the fan motor apparently burned out. It was out of warranty, because, like most American manufacturers, the company gets away with a single-year warranty on a luxury item, so I had to procure a replacement fan. Fine, it's not an enormous cost, so even though it's annoying... whatever. I was instructed to install the fan myself, so I did. In the process, one of the tiny wires that connects the fan to the unit pulled out of it's connector, making the fan replacement impossible, and the entire unit unusable. I work in IT, so I put together computers and other electronic devices that are incredibly sensitive, not just to pressure, but also to temperature and electostatic shocks. I mention this because I am very, very experienced in handling components that are far more delicate than a fan motor should be, so the fact that an amount of force that would respect the architectural integrity of a electronic components worth thousands of dollars, would somehow pull a wire out of its housing, is evidence of nothing but an extremely cheap product. It looks fancy and sturdy on the outside, but the internal components WILL break, it just depends on whether that is within a few months, or within a few years. Customer support was unapologetic and refused to take any sort of reasonable accountability. My options were to either buy a replacement unit, or to f*** off. Please, please do not make the same mistake I made. And if you suspect I'm being even the slightest bit disingenuous, go to the Lomi website, and look at all the glowing 5-star reviews, and nothing lower... then try and leave a review of your own. You can't. They know they would be flooded with negative reviews.

If there were an option to leave NO…

If there were an option to leave NO STARS I would. We received our Lomi through their Indiegogo campaign. As early supporters of Lomi/ Pela, we were excited about it until we had problems and had to deal with customer support. We have called and left messages multiple times and emailed even more. We did get one response to send more information and we did and then crickets. We have continued to call and email. Still nothing. I would not recommend purchasing anything from Pela. Unbelievable disrespect to people who supported you from the beginning.

Subscription scam....impossible to stop the 3 month shipment of charcoal filters at $60.You buy the composting machine and are stock with $60 payments every 3 months...be aware.

I have been trying to return a Lomi for…

I have been trying to return a Lomi for one month. They did not send any means of return bill of lading. They have disconnected their phone customer service. They do not answer their emails. I believe they are in huge financial trouble and are trying to offload their Composters, with no plans to see to any customer concerns. It is horrible! I have nearly 500.00 charges - some not authorized, and they are GONE. DO NOT BUY a Lomi!! It is too risky!

Bought the device about 6 months ago

Bought the device about 6 months ago. It has been temperamental and have to figure the right balance of what gets composted. Have been very careful to put chopped scraps (practically mince broccoli stems) and the spinning arm in the bucket has come loose. Will not screw back in.ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE!! NO REPLIES TO EMAILS AND PHONE CALLS. NOW I HAVE BIG PAPER WEIGHT IN MY KITCHEN WITH ROTTING FOOD AND A COMPANY THAT ONLY CARES ABOUT THE SALE AND NOT THE CUSTOMER!!

So far so good but ... NOISY

I have had my Lomi for only a few weeks, and I am on my fourth run. So far, so good, although I am concerned about the other reviews here that refer to breakdowns and customer service. I bought my Lomi from an "open box" offer, so it was a lot less than MSRP, and I got an older model, not the one with the see-through lid. It is noisy. The noise is the equivalent to a dishwasher. However, a dishwasher runs for, what, about 50 minutes? The Lomi's grow cycle runs for nearly 1 full day. It's annoying in my small house. I moved it to the basement, where it is happily converting my bio garbage into dirt for my plants. So, 4 stars for the noise; 5 stars for the 24 hours to dirt experience.
