I like the frequent advisements about artists I'm following coming to auction. It might be useful to be able to rate each notification as to whether it is a work I like, or not. Likewise with the suggestions regarding more artists to follow. The data on past sales for artists is very useful. Much of the analytics on sales is beyond my need, but I'm sure it is useful to others.
Increasingly, your software is not capturing the provenance information for countless objects that you display. One must go to the auction house website in order to see if there is any provenance information. Also, works of art are misattributed. It's difficult to understand how that happens.
MutualArt gives me precisely what I need to make an informed decision on the art I purchase. By showing me what similar pieces have previously sold for or with editions and multiples the pricing of other pieces from the edition I have the wealth of knowledge I need to buy exactly what I want for the best possible price knowing I have specific examples to back up the pricing I am requesting. They also give me the best picture of what is available throughout the world for the artists I collect. There is no way I would have access to this database of art for sale or at auction without them. They have saved me considerably more each year than the price for their membership.
I've been a long-time subscriber, and my issues have been the same for a long time. Clicking through to a particular auction to observe the artwork that is on offer is painfully slow and cumbersome, much worse than competing art web sites. Moreover, the thumbnail pictures of the artwork is usually too small to properly observe, which then requires me to click through again to determine whether it's a piece that I'd be interested in. All in all, not user friendly.
Often a very helpful site, especially for those of us investigating the background of pictures and objects coming up for sale. The site is slightly less useful in identifying and alerting us to these pictures and objects; though I imagine this will come.
