Review Time
Terrible service, Will never use them again. Had an issue with a double charge, numerous emails later they confirm its due to the time difference and won't refund less than ten pound as I was a patreon for around 17 minutes at the other side of the world. Will advise anyone I know never to use patreon.
I use Patreon to support a number of creators, on and off depending on what monthly rewards they are providing. I honestly don't know how much Patreon is involved with moderating content and other things 1 star reviewers have stated. What I do know is that creators depend on Patreon for supporting their work, and these creators are whom I put my trust in to deliver what their Patreon reward tiers state. I have never been scammed. Though there are times I forget to unpledge, I don't fight my way to get my money back; I just accept it as unintentional support for the creator. Refunding on Patreon does not seem like something creators are able to do, so I have seen some creators who will accommodate through other means to return your money if you message them about unintentional pledges/subscription charges. This review isn't to condone Patreon's laissez faire approach with what content is there, or for their lack of customer support, or even for what it's like on the creator's side. I even saw an artist say she is moving over to use a different platform because of the Patreon fees. I just recognize, I've used Patreon for a few years now, and I've supported a number of creators/artists who do depend on Patreon for income, and I appreciate that there is such a platform for this.
Police need to investigate this website.I used to be an employee of this company and they directed us not to take down underaged users who sell explicit content of themselves because the management wants to be "open to new ideas and changing opinions of people's sexual identities." In other words, they're openly welcoming pedophilia in this website. There's a lot of illegal content, much made involuntarily in Eastern Europe involving children being forced by creepy old dudes. And if we try to tell the police, they threaten to fire us. If the police are reading this review, can they please bring criminal charges against this company for aiding with human trafficking?
Patreon seems very low on ethical standards. This isn't were you go to support, someone you like.. I watched with horror as they made life hell for a creator, that I have supported for years. A creator I will continue to support elsewhere. Creators and supporters beware, it all sounds good when you read what they offer but then they fail to deliver on 'supporting the creator' when it's needed. Everyone should look elsewhere, and not even start anything with Patreon. They appear to really lack integrity, I want nothing more to do with them. I wish I could rate 0 or a minus score.
I was a patreon member for a few years and I subscribed to around 15 different content creators, although I was only subscribed to 3 or 4 at a time. So when I'd see charges on my banking statement nothing really stood out. When I got down to just 2 subscriptions, that's when I started noticing the fees. So I changed my donations to the minimum and waited to see what future charges would be. I gave it three months and patreon was still dinging me $12 per month. Twice a month. $24 when it should have been one charge of $7 monthly? Weird. I don't mind paying fees if I know what it is I'm paying for. Was this a hidden fee? I sure hope not. I hate hidden fees. Any company charging hidden fees is shady af. Patreon couldn't be shady af, right? Meanwhile I was reaching out to the company for answers. Any help would have been appreciated. But nothing. There's a "frequently asked questions" section you can go to, but don't expect to get any help there. Thats when I cancelled my subscriptions to every content creator. I was pledging zero dollars per month and was still being charged. To shorten this review let me just say that after months of trying to figure out what I was being charged for, not once but TWICE a month, I ended up calling my bank and cancelling the recurring charge. Save yourself all of the frustration and just call your bank if you're having these issues. Patreon loves to take your money, but doesn't like to disclose what they're taking it for.
They are the most uncaring company, you can live chat, you cannot phone, they seem not to care at all. Think about this, they take your money charge a huge fee & do not even have the ability to send it to you, you then have to pay yet again to a third party!!!
I can't give them 5 stars because they are pretty stupid with some things. As an example, what's the point of Patron only posts if Patreon mails the entire content to all my Patrons.I contacted them 2 times with the suggestion to send only snippets not the whole content.Their mailings notification is bad and takes away the reason to visit the Patreon page they support because they receive everything by email anyway.Big companies like mailchimp send snippets, but no, Patreon has to send the entire content.
Today, I signed up for a £2 pcm subscription to Patrion, paying via PayPal.When I checked my PayPal account, I'd been charged £2.40 for the 1st of my £2 pcm payments. Being a reasonable person, I sent an email to Patrion's customer services. A couple of hours later, I received an email from (the increasingly suspect) Patrion, saying they've changed their complaints processing; despite their website supplying the address I'd emailed. I then went to the new website and filled out their customer complaints form. IT WAS REJECTED. They will only accept complaints that fit drop down boxes. No option for inappropriate payment claims. It seems they are obstructing complaints. So I'm going straight to PayPal and, hopefully, they'll freeze all of Patrion's payments pending investigation for unlawful, unauthorised, payments claims.DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY
