Straight up thieves. It's one of those things where they're automatically signing you up for something you don't want and nobody needs, and using their service in the first place is presented as non optional through certain airlines. Luckily for me, my bank rejected the payment, which is why I noticed that I had signed up for their bullshit at all. When I rang them up to tell them this they said that I had already cancelled the subscription via the website (which I hadn't done) which suggests to me that as the scam hadn't worked, it was easier to just say don't worry, it was just a mistake (surely the response from a non dodgy company to a customer saying: "you guys have tried to charge me for something I don't want and didn't ask for and I want it cancelled immediately" wouldn't be a a bored "what is your email address please" - it's almost as if I was the 304th person to ring her that day and say the same thing.
