Amazing trainer

Just finished my level 2 with elec training,I was a bit nervous to begin with as I didn’t no anything about being an electrician and also my age as I knew I would of been one of the oldest in the class but my trainer laethian was amazing with me and the rest of the lads, the way he delivered the therory and practicals filled me with confidence that I would get thru it especially the theory side, he was always there to help and could ask him anything, I’m now going to do my level 3 thanks to laethian.

Looking for a new career

Having left the military and looking for a new career, I wanted to build on the skills I gained during my service. I always enjoyed the electrical aspects of my job, which led me to choose the Level 2 2365 course with Elec Training. Laethian was an amazing and enthusiastic teacher, making the whole class feel comfortable from day one. Josh was incredibly helpful and reassuring about finding work—even joking that, as an ex-soldier, it would be a competition to see who could get me a job first!I'm extremely happy with the service I received and will definitely be coming back for my Level 3!

Tutor was amaizng

Tutor was friendly. Very helpful, made the course so much easier and fun. Well knowledgeable and understanding when you couldn’t quite grasp something. Will be advising people to use these for future electricians.

I signed up with Elec Training to improve my qualifications

I signed up with Elec Training to complete my NVQ and achieve my Gold Card. I chose them because they are one of the few companies that help people find work placements outside of apprenticeships. This was crucial for me since I’m no longer eligible for an apprenticeship and couldn’t afford to take a role at apprentice wages. Their support has made a huge difference in my journey, and I highly recommend them to anyone in a similar position.

Great school

This is a long review. So Tl;DR Excellent school for self funding your training to become an electrician. I went in with no experience and left with a 50k job as an electrical engineer.Pros:Commitment post completion of your course to find you a job, with multiple cohorts of 12 students they cant find one for everyone but their careers advisor Josh works round the clock to find you roles. In the end it took me 6 weeks to find a job after completion, and though i found that role myself I would not have passed the interview without Josh's preparation, which included: CV writing support and general career advice, interview practice through the 4 roles he did find me but i didnt get and comprehensive knowledge of the local electrical industries. Josh was able to provide me contacts in the company i got a job in after i told him i was interviewing there which helped a long way. And did similar for other interviews id found myself.Other post training support i saw were people from previous cohorts coming in for free on the spot training for wiring things not covered in course that a candidate needed for an interview, and a candidate that had to drop out for personal reasons being told they could drop onto a later cohort with no issues. The school really take their graduated students careers in their hands and do what they can to find roles for them. The bulk of the work is on you the candidate, but they do everything they can if you choose to work with them.Quality of Teaching. We were trained by Wayne, Malcolm and Laithian across the 7 week level 2 course. Their depth of experience both as teachers and trade electricians was great and they were able to identify where we needed support on the fly and they were all friendly and supportive. There were a number of opportunities for people who were working ahead of the group to gain experience with non course material like wiring showers and fire systems while the rest caught up which was nice.AtmosphereThe school is relaxed, for the level 2 course we were all adults with previous work experience, and while we had a few jokers in the group Wayne kept them on track and the team on schedule. We were encouraged to support each other and still have a group chat from our cohort up and running. The 18th edition course had a lot of teenagers just out of college was a lot more noisy and disruptive, but its a quick 1 week course and i found it pretty easy after just having done the 6 weeks of level 2.ConsGroup size: They kept adding people to course mid way which was a distraction as teacher had to catch up, they added so many in fact that they split the group in half, the part time option for the course seemed a little half baked and id recommend you do full time and start day one to avoid the issues i saw here. That said all those people passed by the end of it so not that big a deal.Facilities:The Thomas Street facility was great, with a kitchen, clean bathrooms and up to date, if a little crowded teaching areas. The Faraday campus was damp, leaking roof, leaking plumbing in their toilet, cold and poorly insulated and missing a front door, though the teaching facilities were better than Thomas Street, with more room and equipment, the comfort was much lower. That said we are manual professionals, its worth it to slog through a flooded bathroom or two to get the qualifications. This wasnt a deal breaker but if you get a choice try to work in Thomas Street.
