Review Time
they are a scam, hiring stats are all inflated. The melbourne hiring head, is nothing more than a scam artist. He's really rude and ignorant and treats people like garbage and takes advantage of vulnerable people. It's one big pyramid scheme, all the teachers are uninterested, and are individuals who have come out of the system, don't trust the reviews theyre also probably fake as well. Look at reddit and other reliable sources for genuine reviews. they are very untrustworthy
TLDR - Do not recommend Data Engineering bootcampRegion: EuropeFormat: Part time, fully remotePersonal circumstance: full time employee at global Big Tech companyHaving attended Le Wagon's Data Science bootcamp in 2022, I was very excited when the Data Engineering bootcamp, which was intended for more advanced and experienced engineers, became available. The key reasons why the bootcamp was so woeful can be summarised as follows:Cons:1. The course material was very low quality - 50% of the course was poorly written, contained errors and sometimes did not make sense. Many exercises were open source tutorials that were basically copied and pasted and used as 'course material'2. Around 70% of the teachers were unqualified to teach, had no to little work experience and had poor knowledge of the teaching material3. Over 50% of my cohort was complete beginners and was not qualified to attend the bootcamp. The bootcamp was advertised as being an 'advanced' course. This was a major impediment to my personal learning as a midlevel, working engineer, as the peer coding and the final project did not work out. This was because some individuals either had no idea what they were doing and/ or behaved very disruptively. To illustrate with some examples, many people did not know how to use github (or understand the importance of version control). Some people could not follow basic instructions or act with simple professional etiquette e.g. interrupting the person speaking during a stand up meeting, attending class in a public cafe and not being able to get their audio working, and asking to meet during work hours impromptu so I could not join (half of my project team members were unemployed)Pro1. The syllabus was comprehensive and well curated. It acted as a good introductory 'map' to the Data Engineering domain2. The 3 good teachers were very good, but they were very thinly stretched as the others were ineffectiveI was extremely disappointed with the bootcamp and felt it was not worth the 6000GBP price tag. To be transparent, I left 2 weeks prior to the end of the bootcamp because of work commitments and also my group project was an utter disaster and was not conducive to my learning. A result of this was that I did not get the certificate of completion, which was ok to me because I intended to omit this from my CV/ resume, as I did not want to associate professionally with this poor quality bootcamp.I had made several complaints during the bootcamp, but sadly they were not addressed. I had messaged the product manager directly to set up a meeting to discuss my feedback, but this did not materialise. Perhaps a public bad review on trust pilot would prompt from action from Le WagonTo summarise, please avoid and save your hard earned cash
