My name is Robert and I am an obessive audiophile. I run a Thorens TD125, SME Model 3009 Series II Improved tonearm, with CARDAS 4 x 34awg CLEAR Twisted Tonearm Wire, an Ortofon Quintet Black S cartridge, upgraded with a nude Ogura 3/30 micron Vital Line Contact Stylus and a BORON cantlever on an Ortofon LH-8000 headshell, plus an Origin Live Turntable Drive Belt, Origin Live Cartridge Enabler and the Funk Firm Achromat Turntable Platter Mat.The noise floor was very low, but I felt it could be better. I read several reviews of the Stack Audio SERENE Record Stabiliser and felt it would be the next logical step.I was not dissappointed. Listening to my mint Italian pressing of Karl Bohm conducting the Berliner Philharmoniker playing Mozart's Symphonien Nr. 35 "Haffner" (DG 138 112 SLPM,) not only had the noise dropped to virtually inaudible levels, musical detail had improved and the soundstage opened up. Wow!
I am using the AUVA 70s to reduce transmission of vibration between Aspen FR10 speakers and a carpeted floor supported by a wooden subfloor. With careful choice of the length of the spikes used, it is possible to install the AUVA 70s so that the spikes pierce through the carpet and into the subfloor. This installation does not totally eliminate vibration, of course, but it is much better controlled. The service and user support provided by Stack Audio is exceptional.
Very helpful advice was provided during my first phone call, recommending a set of Auva 70s. Bolt sizes were initially estimated. When it turned out that the thread size was too small for my equipment, a fresh set of bolts was immediately sent to me, and these fitted perfectly.
I purchased the record mat and Serene Stabiliser. They arrived well packaged. They really do make a big difference to the sound immediately. I didn't think that vibrations were spoiling the sound of my system so much I would recommend trying them. If you are not convinced you can return them.
