I recently purchased a limited edition 1960 racing watch brand new from a work retail store. I genuinely like AV86’s designs and was excited to support a more independent watch brand, but unfortunately my experience has been disappointing.After only 4 days of ownership, I started experiencing multiple issues. The chronograph hand became misaligned and would not reset back to the 0 position after a few uses. More concerning, the millisecond chronograph consistently stops after around 30 seconds, and to restart it I have to stop and start it again. If this behavior is intentional, it really defeats the purpose of a racing watch, as it prevents accurate timing for laps longer than 30 seconds.These issues have made me seriously question the reliability and durability of a watch that is advertised to last for years. I was hoping to wear this during sporting races, but that no longer feels realistic given the problems so early on.I also want to mention the watch strap quality. While I understand it’s made from recycled plastic, the finishing was poor, there was visible glue residue on the edges and excess plastic around the holes that actually made it uncomfortable to wear.I contacted AV86 directly to ask how these issues could be fixed or whether the watch could be serviced or replaced. It has now been 13 days with no response, which is extremely disappointing and has only added to the frustration.To be clear, I do like the watch design and the brand concept, which is why I’m giving this 3 stars instead of lower. However, the quality control issues and lack of customer support have left a negative impression. I really hope AV86 reaches out so they can fix or replace my watch, because I would like to be able to recommend this brand to other collectors without hesitation.
