I have a short term rental and AirBnB has made up 70% of my bookings. At some point in late 2024, the bookings stopped. I am now nearing the summer when my unit is usually very booked in advance, but I have only bookings from VRBO and Booking.com and I am only 30% booked. There is nothing wrong with my listing, no complaints, high reviews, free cancellation, and my prices are lower than comparable units. Yet, my unit is not showing up in search results and AirBnB is not helping me find out why. This issue, which seems arbitrary and algorithm related, could force me to sell which is likely to lead to a big loss of tens of thousands of dollars. I am pleading with them now to let me talk to a manager to help dig into what is happening with their search algorithms and they seem unconcerned.AirBnB takes high fees, has no protection for hosts, and yet expects us to keep using their platform. I am already using other channels and they just don't have the same volume of guests coming through. I implore potential guests to look at other ways to book - try VRBO, Booking.com, Google... There's a lot of options, let's diversify so we don't end up maintaining this monopoly.
