I had the recent pleasure of working with David & team (Akashi Designs) on a beautiful home plan concept that my wife and I are planning to build in the near future. The design we received is outstanding and contains everything we are looking for! For background, we had been perusing big home plan sites for years and were becoming frustrated with the all-too common open concept home plans that require modifications after purchase in order to get something close to what we wanted. We were instantly attracted to Akashi Designs plans displayed on YouTube. What really drew us in was a return to a closed concept plan, but done in a way that still makes the home feel open. What a relief to see a design team embrace this!After seeing plans on their website, I wrote to inquire about making a change to one of his current plans and learned that I could have a custom design done for an extremely reasonable cost compared to the large plan sites. Not only did I receive 1 concept for review (which I only expected), but 3 plans to review in order to see what we liked. We decided on one of the plans with modifications taken from the other plans, in addition to our other desires we wanted in a plan. And with Akashi Designs based out of Kenya, I was curious how their plans would translate for customers in the USA. David ensured me that he had many customers from the US. In fact, I had a US designer review his plan and was told it was one of the better plans he has seen and there would be no issue having this plan turned into blueprints for a US builder!David and team were diligent in creating the initial design, making changes and then working on the final design, roof plan and renderings (posted on YouTube!), staying in constant contact with us to keep us apprised of progress. In short, I would not hesitate to recommend Akashi Designs for any custom home plan work you need done! Their pricing is excellent compared to large plan sites and the rendering/walk-through is beautiful and really gives you a sense of what the home will feel like actually built.
