Only hire from Alamo if you want a stressful holiday were you lose days dealing with car issues! We picked up our car from Edinburgh Waverly Station at 4pm on Friday 28 July excited to commence our roadtrip to see the country side of Scotland. On Sunday 30 July we were blessed with great weather and commenced our road trip of the Isle of Sky. We didn't get far, less than 30 mins into our drive a warning light came on for the engine, then we lost complete power and the car cut out. Great we were half way up a hill! After reserving down and finding flat ground the car was turned off. We were not in a safe position though. We restarted the car and in worked okay. We continued to drive a little further to find a safer location. Whilst driving the warning light came on again. We pulled over and called roadside assistance as we were now in a safe location and we didn't want to keep driving a car that could lose power on us. Whilst we were waiting for assistance we called Alamo offices (several different numbers and attempts later we were finally on the phone to someone). We asked what the next steps would be if the car was not driveable. They said we would have to go back to Inverness (over 3hrs each way) to collect a replacement car. Essentially losing a whole day of our limited travel time! After over an hour of waiting assistance arrived only to say that the error was not appearing and that they can't find any faults at this point in time with the vehicle. They recommended driving it for the rest of the day. By this stage we had already lost most of our morning so we took the mechanics advise and continued to drive the car. The remainder of the day the stress of the car consumed us. Every time we got back in the car we were worried we might get stuck on the side of the road. You pay a lot of money for a hire car for
