Do not. I repeat DO NOT hire a car from Alamo Car rentals or their parent company Enterprise Rent a car (both who do not respond to enquiries). I hired a car from Alamo (parent company Enterprise Rent a Car) in May for the duration of my travels through the UK in May 2024.I hired and returned the car to Gatwick airport. Upon my return, a representative from Alamo thoroughly inspected my hire car for any damage/issues. In a direct quote from their representative he stated “the car is all good, you’re all good to go. Please write us a review when you get the chance”. As a side note, I also happened to forget my jacket in my rental car, and I spoke to another 2 Alamo representative during this interaction, and neither representative stated that there were any issues with the car I had returned. They stated that it was being washed and cleaned for the next customer. The day after I returned the car, Alamo deducted £748.77 from my card without my knowledge, without my consent, and most concerning, without my presence! An additional 3 charges, £748.77 each (totalling £2,246.31), were also attempted to be deducted from my account.Making the grand total amount attempted to be deducted by Alamo £3,295.08 (inclusive of charges made, and attempted, and an additional £300 bond not returned).I did NOT under any circumstances provide Alamo with my card details or provided them with permission to store my card details. Furthermore Alamo did not notify or inform me that they would store my card details on their system for any further future payments. The initial payment was made using an eftpos machine, that required my pin. This would therefore have to mean that Alamo stores the card details of their customers to be able to deduct significant amounts of money from their accounts. In summation Alamo has stolen £1,048.77 without any documentation or justification for these significant charges. Alamo did not even attempt to contact me prior to deducting this money from my card, despite me still being in London and completely contactable at the time. Please also note that this conduct is in violation of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association’s code of conduct (which Alamo’s parent company is a member of).Alamo and their parent company have also failed to respond to my emails requesting an explanation and all relevant documentation to justify the charges.I am not one to write scathing reviews, but I am at a loss for words, given how much money was stolen out my account, without any response to my emails from both Alamo or their parent company Enterprise Rent a Car.
