We made a terrible mistake when we bought our car from Alan Day. The car picked up a fault and we had to take it in after a two-month wait. The car was in and out in a couple of days, but I soon realised that part of the fault hadn’t been fixed, and they had actually created three new ones. After a week of trying to get the car fixed, I rang them up to re-book it so they could see what they had done. I was told I would have to wait six months for an investigatory appointment. Just to get them to see what they had done or didn’t do, I would have to wait half a year.Over the last month, I’ve been trying to figure out what they had done, but speaking to them is such a pain. You can stay polite and reasonable, but they will (especially the receptionists who take the call) actively show disdain if you politely stand your ground and don’t take no for an answer.I’ve been told on several occasions when I point out their bad service, which isn’t even subtle, that I can always take my car to a different service partner. Except they know I can’t because no other dealership wants to take a car that’s been worked on by anyone at Alan Day. Seriously, that’s what two other dealers actually told me.These people don’t care about their brand, their work, or their customers. If I can get even one person to think twice about getting a car from them, it will have been worth it.
