I tried to open a bank account in Portugal. After providing the forms nothing happened for two months. After I asked for a refund there was suddenly a request for new information from the bank. After providing the additional information and waiting for another month I finally asked to proceed with the refund (half the paid amount). I understand that things are ultimately at the control of the bank, but I expect someone who's supposed to represent me to at least ask for an update from the bank on their own accord if nothing happens for two months, and keep me informed.
