I won a photoshoot package with AWP. Let's be honest, the firm give these away as a way to get you to buy the resulting shots, but that's okay - it's business. I was so far out of my comfort zone here because I hate my appearance, but I was determined to do it. In reception was a lady who had just finished her shoot; she had incredible long legs in skinny jeans. I texted the friend I was staying with: "omg I'm gonna look like a potato". The ladies on reception settle you with a drink (I needed it).Make up and hair is a lovely experience, Shona was very sweet and patient with a clueless client, and now I have some ideas to refresh my own routines - thank you.The absolute star of this whole thing was photographer Jemma, who was either genuinely enthusiastic or should go into acting 🤣 She made me feel less awkward than normal, she made me laugh, and by the end of it all I could have hugged her except it would have been hugely inappropriate; I was stood in my pants and platform heels, and she's about four foot six. Because I'd travelled miles, I was able to view my pics the next day, which scared the bejesus out of me. I cried. Lots. And then I hid behind a cushion. But everyone here is kind and understanding.I was fully expecting a hard sell, but no. Didn't happen. I am super happy with my photos - I am still not convinced that it's actually me. I can't say I 100% enjoyed it; this was a difficult experience for me thanks to general anxiety and body dysmorphia though, and not a reflection on the shoot itself! Would I do it again? Hell yeah.
