We had booked a Catamaran for a week at Angelina Yacht Charter. The people at the front desk were very friendly – and emphasized that we should check the boat before signing the checklist of close to a hundred items. That gave us a feeling that they would be very strict going through the boat when getting back from our cruise, so we took pictures of what we could see was damaged or not functioning – but didn’t think about checking the holding tank – and had we thought of it, we didn't know how we should check it.We were given a very quick introduction to the boat from a friendly employee who told us, that he had had to repair the toilets in the port side of the boat after the previous occupants had used toilet paper. We told him that we knew very well not to use that – not our first time on a boat.We used one of the toilets before taking off – and after pumping the content into the holding tank the bowl suddenly filled up again with the same contents – disgusting. We contacted the personnel who came the next day and looked at it and said everything was fine – they emptied the bowl without it reappearing again. When we got out to sea we found out, that the problem wasn’t fixed at all. Whenever we pumped a bad smell appeared, so we stopped using the toilets on the port side. When returning after a week we told the same guy who gave us instructions that we had been living with not being able to use the port side toilets and he said we should have called – but I told him that we didn’t want to interrupt our vacation to get it fixed. When checking out they told us that we had to pay 100€ for the problem with the toilets which made me very mad and I told them, that I thought we should get a discount instead for not being able to use half the toilets on the boat. The base manager came to the boat and very arrogantly refused to listen to any argument. I told him, that we were told they had repaired the toilets just prior to our arrival and that might be part of the problem – but he was determined to let us pay. He also stated that it was their words against ours – so I guess customers are less important and/or credible. We are planning to come back next year to sail in Croatia – but we will never use Angelina Yacht Charter again. I’m ready to pay for any damages I have caused – but to have to pay for something that doesn’t work in the first place makes me furious. We didn’t even bring up all the things that were broken or damaged as we took over the boat. We could never set sail as the self-tagging of the main sail was broken. One of the fridges didn’t close, another of them was very difficult to open as it had a damaged handle and so on and so forth. We can warm heartedly recommend boating in Croatia – but think twice before using Angelina Yacht Charter.
