INSURANCE COMPANY FAILURES

Unconscionable company. As with most health insurance companies in the US, Anthem prioritizes PROFITS over benefits to members. 1. They deliberately understaff customer service agents to handle support to their insured members making the wait time to speak with an agent consistently excessive. This is intended to discourage members from getting benefits by frustrating them on hold for 45 minutes plus. 2. Their practice is to delay, delay, delay, and deny benefits. This further discourages insurance claims for treatment saving the company millions of dollars annually. 3. Anthem is in fact owned by the parent company ELEVANCE. The management of your health plan is handled by another ELEVANCE-owned company called CARELON. They are the group that decides if your request for authorization (RFA) is “medically necessary” or not. Prior Authorization is required when your doctor makes a referral to a specialist. Despite your Primary Care Physician (PCP) determining that you need a specialist, CARELON (commonly known as “Care-Less”) is set up to review the request and decide if they disagree with your doctor on the need for treatment without the benefit of any medical assessment of the patient. 4. I have been attempting to receive treatment since January 2025 (6 months +) for: physical therapy, chiropractic therapy, psychological counseling, weight loss, dental care, and other medical needs. Typical calls to Anthem require a lengthy hold time while I do my weekly grocery shopping while on hold with Anthem). The list of deceptive practices by Anthem Blue Cross, CARELON, and ELEVANCE, is too long to include here. The key issue to be aware of is that all USA insurance companies have similar practices to deny legitimate claims. I believe that these practices are motivating some members, like Luigi Mango e, to reach a boiling point and assassinate the CEOs. While it’s an unjustified criminal act it is nonetheless understandable given the unethical business practices of USA insurance companies.
