DON’T BUY A TOTOTA (Yaris Cross Excel)But if you must, don’t buy it from JEMCA, Colindale NW9Ordered & waited for a brand-new Toyota Yaris Cross Excel recently. I collected & paid for the car on May 4th. It showed 24 miles on the clock, but the wheel arches, & all the areas that were immediately visible & if you looked, the entire undercarriage, was coated in thick caked mud. There was a stain on the back seat, and the inside was dusty!!! I was forced to wonder if they had run it through a farmyard, & put the inhabitants on the back seat…? Without any shame, or apology, they simply offered to have it valeted at my convenience. I purchased the Excel version because the USP offered a kick action tailgate not available on the Sports Version, which offers a far superior interior. Torn as to which version to buy, I finally decided that the seats could be covered, but the tailgate facility was a valuable option.Despite every single Toyota model in existence having a smart black interior in varying degrees of luxury, the Yaris Cross inexplicably only offers the cheapest & nastiest sludge brown seats, and similar ghastly mismatching sludge around the interior, despite the customers’ exterior colour choice., which is really does not compliment.Within the first 5 days, the kick plate opening worked only about once in ten tries for me, as well for everyone else I asked, in frustration, to try it, & the computer screen said “NO” twice & refused to start. 11 days later they took it back, I believed in order to check the computer for faults, to replace the tailgate sensors, as well as to properly clean the car.When I collected it again, the mud had not been touched! Neither had the interior been cleaned. They had simply, and barely, removed the stain on the back seat!I was informed, with a straight face, that I was starting it incorrectly (!!!) and that the kick plate needed a foot to be waved at least 4 times & then to smartly step back to ensure it works! The Manager offered me paltry compensation so that I could pay for another clean at a valet service of my choice, which I refused stating that on present showing I could do it better myself!Instead, I requested Jemca to source, supply & fit acceptable black front car seat covers as more appropriate compensation, as I obviously had purchased a car for a facility they advertise, but do not supply in working order. To confirm our conversation, as I am always advised to do, I put the entire scenario, and our agreement, in writing in an email. One week later, despite this email, & a follow up phone call, I have been completely ignored. Are they waiting for my consumer statutory rights to expire. TOYOTA has a lot to answer for, interior design aberration for one model only (??) & for advertising facilities that don’t work as reasonably expected, &/or expecting the customer to be performing a “dance” to open the boot, when the facility is offered to allow you to be able to open the boot when your hands are full……. and JEMCA for appearing to believe that it is perfectly acceptable to offer customers a brand-new car fresh from a visit to the farmyard & then ignoring all else, as now the customer has paid, is of no further value. All this for a car that costs well in excess of £30,000…..My last Toyota bought from same dealership, gave me nearly 21 years of trouble free ownership. This new purchase has given me nearly 21 days of total hassle!And looking through the Trust Pilot site, I now wish I had read previous reviews as it seems I am not alone!
