As a career change, I signed up for courses to become a real estate appraiser. There was little to no advice or advising on the career change. I received little to no support when I reached out to the instructor with questions, was just referred to the downloadable documents. I have no contacts in the field. I am now at a loss for securing a supervisor to obtain my required training hours as a trainee. I am a proud, registered trainee in North Carolina who can not find work…it has been an expensive career move, almost one year since receiving my trainee designation. As a previous teacher, my education included support for finding experience (student teaching). Often, student teachers are hired at the school where they student taught, or staff and administrators helped the student make contact with other positions at other schools. I feel stuck, with no means of support. Many, many cold calls from the list of registered appraisers from the NC list and there is no support to find a position as a trainee.
