I sent the following to aspire events this morning:Good morning, I went to the aspire tour yesterday in Denver, Colorado. I was greatly impressed by the talk given by Mr. Goggins. However, a constant presenter on your tour, Marcus, strongly urged several conference, attendees to stand up and share some of their very serious history. Of which, included the rape of a female attendee, by her brother, which Marcus responded by asking her, if her brother was in the right state of mind, and perhaps not knowing what he was doing; this alluding to the brother not responsible for the act in which he committed. As a psychologist, and working with trauma survivors on a regular basis, this is not some thing that should be said in front of attendees scaling upward of 3000+. There should be some responsibility taken by the leaders standing up in front of these conferences, to engage in ethical communication about sensitive topics, such as rape. As I feel that aspire controls the narrative around marketing and I am having trouble finding opportunities to share my experience with other attendees, so that they can make an educated decision about attendance. I am concerned about how the situation was handled, and disappointed overall about my experience. The extreme marketing efforts taken did not match the experience received. As I had hoped for some thing, inspirational, and aside from Mr. Goggins, presentations were focused on money & real estate, while also promoting additional workshops that promised wealth. This is not what I signed up for, and I was not given the opportunity to make an educated decision when paying a large amount to attend this conference. I also chose to take a full day off from my job, which I now regret, which includes serving veterans at high risk for suicide. I expect better and you should too.
