I immediately asked for a refund, which the company refused to provide.• The Price: My initial fee was $4,347, which was supposed to include professional production and "substantial" marketing.2. Marketing Incompetence and Minimal Royalties• My book was a proven success—it reached #1 on Amazon in its category in both Kindle and paperback. Marketing the audiobook should not have been difficult.• The "Marketing": The company's promised marketing was mostly limited to posting solicitations on my defunct Instagram and Facebook accounts (which I hadn't used in 5 years). Since these posts were free, it was essentially zero-effort, zero-cost marketing.• The Result: After over 8 months on the market with their "substantial marketing," my total royalties for the audiobook amount to a shockingly low $12.50.3. Production Negligence and Technical Issues• I chose to narrate the book myself and provided them with clean, professional-quality chapter recordings. Their job was the engineering/post-production.• Inferior Audio: Their final engineered versions for roughly 25 of 30 chapters were vastly inferior to my original submissions. The audio included annoying echoes, slurred sentences, a background humming that wasn't in my files, and even deleted entire passages from the book. I spent hundreds of hours struggling to get them to produce competent recordings.4. The $1,550 Marketing Scam and Explicit Admission of Theft• Despite their contractual marketing promises (from the $4,347), they continually badgered me to buy additional marketing.
