A massive shout out for Autobarn's Glenn from the Preston store for the most sexist, ageist, lazy customer service l have experienced buying a car battery costing $270.00.At the checkout l asked if Autobarn gave seniors discount? NO, Qantas rewards? NO, Glenn asked if l was a member & my mobile number was checked, NO.A few days later l was on Autobarn's website & saw the same battery that had a members price discount of $50.00.Sent an online query to ask if the discount only applied to online orders?Received a reply from Customer Care's Danilyn to advise the members discount is available instore & online & was also advised, l was not a member as they checked my email address. So we have all established - l am not a member.reply received as follows:Member price is also applicable for in-store purchases as long as the transaction is linked on the customer's registered Accelerate Rewards member profile.My query also asked, if l can join instore, would l be eligible immediately for the discounted price that shows on Autobarn's system, yes.Therefore, if yes, why wasn't l offered a membership by Glenn at Preston, all Companies want market share & loyal customers repeat business right?A second email from Customer Care's Danilyn rubbed salt into the wound even further by advising members get a welcome voucher... reply received as follows:In addition if you wish to sign up as a member on the day you made the purchase, the store can register you before the transaction is done. However please note that the welcome voucher cannot be used on top of other promos. If the item is already on discount (member price or other promotions) the welcome voucher cannot be used on top as it can only be used for regular ticketed pricesThree further emails to Customer Care's Danilyn on the 08th July, 05th August, 18th August 2025 to resolve this appalling performance by Glenn from the Preston store have all been ignored with no resolution, no acknowledgement, no apology or understanding of how frustrating & disappointing this shopping experience was.DO NOT BUY FROM AUTOBARN, there are plenty of competitors out there for the same items.
