Regarding which old £1 notes can or cannot be exchanged at my local branch? At 81 years old, I've been targeted by various fraudsters since 2002. Unfortunately, I lack the resources to address these issues legally and have lost significant funds over the years. This week, I was informed by a representative at my local branch that my old £1 notes couldn't be exchanged for modern currency due to their serial numbers not being on an acceptable list. I've been a customer since December 2018 and only recently found these notes among my late daughter's belongings. I would appreciate clarification on the current rules regarding exchanging bank notes that appear legitimate. I always believed this would not be an issue, yet I was advised to contact the central bank directly.
