I purchased what the card said “gift card” during their holiday sale. What I discovered is that if you don’t use all sessions before the year ends the remaining session will disappear from your account without any warning or indication . This year. I lost 100 sessions (almost $3000) without a warning. When confronted I was told they’re too busy to notify members of their upcoming expired “gift cards” and automating their computer system to send an email warning as such is too much work. I leave this review with 86 remaining session from another “gift card” and risk that they’ll steal the value of those as well. The initial feedback I got from staff who knew me well was “tough, that’s our policy”. After Many conversations with GM, a torte lawyer, reviewing their legal documents, I would need to go to arbitration to cause Barry’s any policy change. Only if I can find additional members in California's whose passes just disappeared like mine. I eventually got Barry’s Corporate office to reimburse me for the 100 classes they removed from my account but I have 86 remaining. They refused this until hours of conversations and many emails and what they call “above and beyond” exception even though 2019 -2024 they always refunded me the unused portion. This is a 2025 rule. I started with many more sessions then I could use a year to help staff reach their sale #s as I considered them family. (Also knowing i would get cashed out if not used). I brought 6-9 new members to them and according to their accounting system I spent 27k since 2019. Please be careful .. Their success has gone to their corporate head. I had to plead to get my money back. Had every intention of buying the “gift card” Christmas gifts I give but decided to no longer support gym. I will use my last classes (unless they remove them because of this post)and call it a day.
