They sent periodic emails explaining the production process & highlighting the artisans, while also providing updates throughout the production timeline from order to delivery. For made-to-order items with a longer lead time, those went a long way for me. I always felt informed and didn't have to wonder about the status of my order, and got to learn about the process and artisans making the shoes.
