I have used the Benjamin app and earned real money through it, but getting that money has become an ordeal I can only describe as predatory.

In October 2025, the app froze all withdrawals until December 3rd. All completed tasks, regardless of the amount, even a penny, were placed in a 60-day pending period before becoming eligible for withdrawal. When December 3rd arrived, withdrawals didn't work, with the app citing "too much activity." New restrictions appeared with no prior notice: a $50 daily withdrawal maximum in addition to their normal $25 minimum, bank transfers removed entirely, and a $1 fee per transaction for "instant processing" through Venmo or PayPal only. My first successful withdrawal didn't go through until December 10th, after trying every single day. Each withdrawal was added to a withdrawal queue that initially said would be processed in "3+ days" but now just says that it's in the queue, with no time estimation at all. I currently have $317.79 sitting in that withdrawal queue. It has been nearly three months since that first withdrawal was submitted. So much for "instant".

Support has been useless. My first ticket received an instant auto-response. When I replied, I waited a full month to hear back — only to receive a variation of the same canned message. A second ticket filed a week ago has followed the same pattern.

During the freeze, Co-founder Erno Tauriainen, had the nerve to announce record profits for Benjamin for 2025. I guess if you stop paying your users it does result in some extra revenue. He's since made his LinkedIn private, and the company FB page has been closed. The company has been sued by the SEC in the past, which makes me wonder how Benjamin used their last round of seeding funds and if the SEC should look into their recent activity. It looks like Benjamin may already attract their attention again though, since a lawsuit was filed against Benjamin just last month for investment fraud and breach of contract. Benjamin users like myself are not surprised.

What makes this especially painful is that I genuinely needed this money. I have surgery scheduled this month, will be on unpaid leave for nearly a month while I recover, and am already behind on bills due to medical expenses. Knowing that hundreds of dollars I legitimately earned are being withheld by this company while I've been struggling has been infuriating.

I've already left reviews on Google Play and the App Store, but another user pointed out that I should be reporting the app to Google and Apple as well, so I'll be doing that. Since I'll have nothing but time after my procedure next week, I'll also be filing complaints with the FTC, the CFPB, my state's attorney general, and the New York attorney general's office (where Benjamin's headquartered). To start. I'm posting this review across multiple platforms so that others can make an informed decision before investing their time and money into this app.
