My son and I love going to Little Buds allotment club, it is a real local treasure. The site is absolutely idyllic with trees, raised beds and a pond, overlooking a field of horses. It is so well set up for the children, every aspect has been well thought out to provide an engaging and varied experience where there is something for children of all ages. There are bird and bat boxes, hedgehog houses, a bug hotel, raised beds, greenhouses and a polytunnel. Activities and crafts are often seasonal and educational relating to different aspects of nature, eg, plants, veg growing, animals, etc. It's so important for children to have as many opportunities as possible to get outdoors and they find it very rewarding to be involved in growing their own food and then picking and eating it at harvest time. My son is 3 now but we've been coming here since he was a baby and we still look forward to coming here every week and getting out in the fresh air. I can't describe how much of a lifeline it was for me as a sleep deprived single mother. Just the chance to go somewhere child friendly where someone would make me a cup of tea was amazing and so appreciated! I can't thank Angie and Julie enough for providing such a brilliant club, the local community needs things like this.
