I am leaving this review about my experience with Blu Lanka with a heavy heart. I contacted this agency after reading numerous positive reviews, but unfortunately, my experience was nothing like what others have described.I planned a 13-day family trip and transferred the advance payment in AUD. My mistake was not confirming in advance what exchange rate would be applied—I trusted the agency to be fair and transparent, which turned out to be a serious error. They applied an exchange rate of AUD 1 = USD 0.5383 (21/05/2025), which is almost 0.10 lower than the actual market rate. In fact, at no point in 2025 did the exchange rate drop to the level they applied. I was appalled by this practice.After extensive discussions, I realised that this agency cannot be trusted. However, since half of the payment had already been made, I had no option but to proceed with the package.I clearly informed the agency that I was travelling with childrens and expected an itinerary tailored accordingly. Instead, what was provided was a very basic and uninspired package with 3rd class train tickets in a crowded train with no seats.Thankfully, our guide Danushka (freelancer) and driver Maturanka were absolutely amazing. Danushka transformed Blu Lanka’s ordinary itinerary into something special. He was prompt, knowledgeable, and proactive—suggesting meaningful changes and add-ons such as safaris and village tours etc. Both Danushka and Maturanka played a huge role in making our holiday memorable. Without them, the trip could have been a disaster.If you are planning a holiday with Blu Lanka, please be extremely cautious. Clarify every detail in advance and do not rely on trust alone.
