I am submitting this formal complaint regarding Bonafide Legal Services based on my direct experience working with the company under the name “James.” During my time there, I worked without a formal contract or base salary.
While the company appears to operate as a legitimate business entity, I have serious concerns about its data security practices, service transparency, and overall customer experience.
Unauthorized Use of My Name and Image
After my association with the company ended, my name and photograph have continued to appear on the company’s website and/or marketing materials without my consent. I have formally requested their removal, but they remain in use. This raises concerns about identity misuse and misrepresentation, as it may imply that I am still affiliated with or endorsing the company.
Data Security and Privacy Concerns
During my work, I observed practices that raised concerns about how sensitive customer information is handled. It did not appear that personal data was consistently encrypted, and a significant portion of staff handling sensitive client information seemed to be located outside of the United States. This raises questions about data privacy, oversight, and how securely personal and financial information is stored or transmitted across multiple systems.
Service Transparency and Value
The company offers a “Debt Defender” service that costs approximately $1,400, with no guarantee of success. Customers are required to pay this fee regardless of the outcome, and there is no clear assurance of results. This may leave consumers feeling they have paid a substantial amount without receiving meaningful resolution.
Additionally, the company bundles services such as Smart Credit into its packages. These services do not appear directly related to credit repair or debt resolution, which creates confusion about what customers are actually paying for.
Customer Service Concerns
Communication with customers is often inconsistent and lacks professionalism, which is particularly concerning given the sensitive financial and personal information involved.

I respectfully request that the Better Business Bureau review this company’s business practices, specifically:

Transparency in service offerings and guarantees
Marketing practices and bundled services
