Update: It is truly unfortunate that accountability, responsibility, and trust are evaporating from today's society. This statement has never been more true than when applied to internet companies—not only applicable to my experience with BookPublishLab (BPL), but many companies today. Unfortunately, TL;DR would not suffice as this update requires a modest degree of verbosity. I am resubmitting this review of BookPublishingLab with updated content—a resubmission of a review submitted back in early November. In good faith, I removed the review after receiving assurances from BPL that they would resolve all my outstanding issues, provided I remove the original review. (Apparently, the promise of resolution was a ruse to get my negative review "removed "for the holidays! According to TrustPilot reports, the review had substantial read indicators.)This tactic made me realize why some of the negative reviews that appeared early in the fall for this company on Trustpilot had disappeared. After I removed my review, nothing happened. Just a series of promises and delays. A complete stall job. (Remember, it was the holidays)I am an architect for a major corporation, so I may have access to resources you may not be privy to, so if you do not have access to these resources, and you have issues with any online company, do the following:1. Try to resolve the issue with the company yourself.2. If unsuccessful, continue to step 33. Retain legal representation 4. Contact and submit a complaint to the AG for your state of residence.5. Contact and submit a complaint to the state of operation for the company6. Contact and submit a complaint to the FTC7. Contact and submit a complaint to the BBB8. In my case, it was necessary to contact and file a report with the IRS.You may discover, as stated in the review below, that these companies use different LLCs to hide assets and make it difficult to obtain financial recovery.I have completed all of the aforementioned steps and future actions will be through my legal representation. For my new book and furture works, I will seek out a more established publisher. Good luck and all the best with publishing your book! The original review is below:This company published my book, as promised but the books were NOT distributed to all target publishing sites. Just Amazon. The site references several more. Also, beware of an investment opportunity offer that they may offer. It is a scam. I have not received one penny from the "guaranteed" investment, nor have I received the printed copies of my book that I was promised as part of the investment. I have the signed contracts to prove it. I am working with my lawyer on litigation, which might be difficult. The corporation structure is set up to make it difficult to litigate, according to my lawyer. One final note: the website was changed to remove the suspected LLC. Fortunately, I have a screenshot of the site from September, which shows that the information on the page was there and has now been removed.Update,I received a communication from the company to my inquiry below. The reply was a form email exactly like one used in an initial communication from months ago offering to publish my new book. Completely ignoring my inquiry.I noticed a negative review that I can no longer find on trustpilot. Strange! But I should have heeded that review's warning. The 4.4 star reviews were one of the reasons I went with this company.I started working with them in May 2024. As the other reviewer says, they use common American names. At first, everything seemed to be going well. Then I started noticing promises not being fulfilled, like book distribution to all those sites claimed on their website. They only distributed my book to Amazon. Also, I hired them to author a website, which they did, However, they failed to provide me with access to my own site.My final comment is on the investment opportunity that was offered. I have not received one penny from it, nor have I received any of the books promised from said investment. For several weeks, there was a promise of payment, with kinds of excuses as to why I had not received any funds.I recently received an email from them(10/31/2024) and spoke with them on the phone. They promised to resolve all outstanding issues, but when I mentioned the failed investment, it was all hush-hush. I have not heard from them since.Be wary of this company. Also, numerous LLCs appear to be used. And yes, I have contacted the appropriate authorities.
