I booked a sailing and Yoga trip which awesomely had the option of a private cabin. After having booked and paid, I was informed by the host, Ana, that it was no longer possible to get that private accomodation. I asked if I was at least gonna share with a girl as my partner and I would not feel comfy otherwise. I got the response that the host does not think this trip is for me as sailing is a social activity. Obviously afterwards I also no longer feel comfy to go there. I now asked for a refund as the host herself told me not to come. She first offered me an overpriced retreat in Barcelona that had nothing to do with sailing. Then bookyogaretreats took over. They also only offered store credit. I made it clear that I am not sure if I ever wanted to book with them again after this experience. It then took several interactuons with their Customer Service via Email (they answered promptly, friendly and seemed competent). I have now gotten a cash reward. In the process I found it bothering that with this being the situation I was offered store credit in a way that it was assumed that was a good deal that I found irritating. Also, waiting for the money, despite it only being around a week, didn't feel great.In the overall process I found that BookYogaRetreats.com does not facilitate anything much as compared to booking directly with retreats as I have done many times before with never even once having a bad experience.I would personally probably not book through them again, as apart from a very well made website that gives you a great overview I do not really see any advantages with the experience I had. I realize that the fault is overall not at all with bookingyogaretreats originally, but I feel it would have been around as difficult to get the money back from the original host directly had I booked through them and probably without an automated booking system his mistake could have even been avoided (they tell you which rooms are available if you book through a person and not a machine that might have to be updated when over night there are many bookings).
