We've now been using Brightpearl for exactly a year. It was promised as the product that could do anything but it's full of features that just don't work properly. On paper, it offers a lot. However, the features you're told about on their website and by the sales team either don't work properly or are still being developing and lack crucial elements.
The integrated accounting module doesn't link properly with Paypal or Ebay so unless you want to spend hours manually adjusting and inputting every transaction, it's just not viable to use it. We still run [external reference] alongside Brightpearl because of this. This has been raised in brightpearl's feedback forum but we've been told that it's "not a priority."
The orders that come in cannot be trusted. About 1 in every hundred orders we receive is duplicated. We've reported it as a bug- no fix 6 months after. When we first signed up, the addresses kept coming in from Ebay incorrectly. Brightpearl didn't even see this as a problem and when it was fixed they called it "a great new feature". Their workaround beforehand was being told we'd have to manually check every address against the sale record on Ebay.
Also, there's no reporting features at all. No way of seeing stock sales in the past month or anything similar. Everything has to be exported to Excel and then manipulated by yourself.
The workflows are just very poorly thought out. Brightpearl stores customer details with the only unique attribute being an email address. Good idea, but you can't search for a customer by email! You can only search by name. This is also a problem if an ebay customer sends you a message. Unless they sign off with their full name, you've only got the ebay username to work with which isn't searchable either. Another example is the purchase order screen. You can filter the huge list of purchase orders by date, payment method, who raised the order etc, but you can't filter it by supplier! It's just so poorly put together.
Brightpearl needs a lot of work and basic functions need completing. It offers integrated accounting, ebay listing and paypal sync but none of these features are complete or work properly.
In summary- great on paper, appalling in practice.
