While campaigning for BETO for Texas I was placed at this hotel due to its location and needing to be in the area for a campaign event. I am also a Platnium Elite IHG member and have stayed at this hotel before with no problems. Upon attempting to check in I explained the purpose of my stay I was denied the rate for govt/military temporary status stating they needed an ID badge as if I was with the IRS was needed. I attempted to provide the organizations tax I.d. number which also serves as a type of exemption. It was early am no offices were open so I waited approximately 4 hours just sitting in the lobby no one offering any concern for my purpose of being there. I was with a local govt official campaign committee. I was operating as a campaign organizer meaning I’m a large part as to why internationals are allowed to come here and work. I push the vote for that proposition that Bond yet front desk personnel who were all internationals were more concerned about not giving me the govt rate and wanting to get the full rate for the sale of the room. They treated me like trash. Even Mr Torres’s making a claim that I didn’t have the money but the 122usd in cash had been given to me to pay for the room. Believing that Mr Torres would have a heart, operate from a business mindset that includes equality, guest satisfaction and quick problem resolution instead called the police and attempted to have me arrested. Lied to the police. And attempted to have me arrested for criminal trespassing when I clearly had a reservation. Mr. Torres’s who stated he was one of the managers and his security guard Mr. Gonzalez who had never spoke to me made a false report to HPD stating they had asked me to leave the property but I refused. No such request had been made! I was escorted off the property simply because he wanted to cancel my reservation and rebook the room for a higher price. There could not have been any other reason other than the fact that I’m black. Perhaps he’s racist. I could have gone to jail based on a lie ! The personnel at this hotel is wicked, money hungry and will make false allegations against you if you’re the type that stands for what is righteously yours. They violated their own terms and conditions which sets forth guaranteed guest satisfaction. It’s clearly all about the money and the hugest rate being paid when clearly as a IHG member there are other rates that can be honored.
