Day of the Dead tourTheir itinerary was misleading. It stated there would be challenging days of walking and omitted that there would be long days of driving. If we would have known this upfront, we would have given further consideration to whether or not to book the tour.I calculated that we sat in the bus for over 50 hours of our holiday which is totally excessive was a high proportion of our waking time. With this volume of travel on an uncomfortable bus that had seen better days, the tour became a trial of endurance! We had almost no free time and arrived late in almost every town we visited. We were supposed to arrive in Oaxaca to visit the cemetery but arrived there at 10:30pm after more than 9 hours of travel. We missed the highlighted tour of a graveyard. The excuse was that it was normal to have heavy traffic at that time. They should have allowed for this in their itinerary given the theme of the trip was supposed to be all about the Day of the Dead. The hotel we stayed in was miles from anywhere and of a poor standard as well. The sites we saw throughout Mexico were incredible and well worth visiting and we are very happy that we had the opportunity to see them. However, as the tour was an ordeal and allowed us minimal free time. This detracted from the experience and severely impacted our enjoyment of the tour. It must also be noted that this was supposed to be a holiday for us and not the expedition it turned out to be. I would recommend going to Mexico but, as they say, "It's who you go with" - DON'T go with Bunnik!
