I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience travelling with CrossCountry Trains.
On 3rd March 2026, I was due to catch the 15:54 service from Peterborough to South Wigston via Leicester, Due to a reported fatality, my original train was cancelled—which, while unfortunate, is understandable. However, the handling of the situation afterwards was completely unacceptable.
The next scheduled train was also cancelled, leaving passengers with very little information or support. When I finally managed to board a later service, it terminated early at Leicester, forcing me to arrange and pay for a taxi to complete my journey. This added significant stress, inconvenience, and unexpected expense to what should have been a straightforward trip.
To make matters worse, when I submitted a Delay Repay claim for the disruption, I received a response stating that my claim was unsuccessful. Given the multiple cancellations, the shortened journey, and the additional cost I incurred, this decision feels entirely unjustified.
Overall, this experience highlights a serious lack of reliability, communication, and customer support. I understand that incidents can happen, but the way this was managed—and the refusal to provide compensation—falls far below acceptable standards. I would strongly urge CrossCountry Trains to review both their disruption handling procedures and their claims process.
Very poor service from start to finish.
