Completed gas works on our estate to replace old pipework. I would advise anyone having this done to take detailed photos throughout their house beforehand and upon completion of the works at your property, to check that no damage has occurred. They will come around a few days later and ask if everything went OK but if you find a fault after this point it will be too late... So check and double check !Our house was left with cracked internal walls in multiple places at a cost of hundreds if not thousands to repair properly, their operations manager will then say they could not possibly have caused this damage and you will be told they have closed their investigation and you will need to claim on your home insurance. I would imagine this can occur, not just when the pipe to your gas meter is replaced, but when they do the main line a few days later... The operations manager obviously was not in the house at the time, so missed the vibrations running through the street as this part was being carried out. I will do my civic duty to ensure that residents having this work carried out nearby are informed of these risks and to check themselves, as no one should be put through this trauma !
