Cadent use contractors to replace gas pipes in WR1. The information about how the company would handle the disruption was appalling. Contractors left mess, gave wrong dates when they expected to be in your home (very much at their convenience) to connect to meter and boasted they were ahead of schedule and were heard taking calls for emergency "cash jobs" which they always seemed to have time to fit in. Most of my neighbours had far worse problems than myself with 1 lady and her young son left with no working boiler (Cadent came out the next day in a cold Feb to fix/apologise). Cadent reps came out twice to say problems would be resolved but this did not happen and the customer care team at Cadent (Nathan & Hannah) were weak and ineffective telling me that all corrective work was completed...until I sent photos at which point they went very quiet. The local authority visited and said they routinely fine Cadent but this is probably no deterrent as Cadent probably build in a cost for fines due to sloppy work. if they work in your area its more than likely they got the contract due to nepotism rather than competency
