I ordered a half bushel each of large male and female blue crabs online. They arrived a day later than expected, which was due to shipping issues. The male crabs seemed fine upon opening, but most of the female crabs had broken claws and cracked shells. After steaming a few, the meat looked unappealing, with a greyish color instead of the expected white. The taste was equally disappointing, lacking any sweet flavor and instead being dry and stringy, masked by an overly salty seasoning. It feels like the crabs may have been dead before cooking. Their website claims the crabs are caught and steamed before shipping, so I wonder if they reserve the fresh ones for local sales while sending poor quality ones online. I cannot recommend purchasing their crabs, especially through online orders. It felt like a complete waste of money!
