Tried different server hosts with a big modpack using only 4GB RAM just as a stability test (and also because some offer 4GB RAM for free and is also the cheapest which lets me test longer using free credits), this one is far by the most stable! With just 4GB RAM, I was actually able to play around in the modpack for a few minutes! The other ones either instantly crashed as soon as the server is up or crashes a few seconds after I get into the server. My experiences on this and other hosts:McServerHost - Has a free tier unlimited 4GB RAM server you can use and no annoying "you are using an adblocker" screen like Aternos but is finicky and has a lot of instability problems and apparently has a bad support team.Exaroton(paid version of Aternos) - A pay-by-the-minute pricing plan which means you buy credits and credits only get used when the server is online and has a lot of neat features like easy-install mods but the prices are too expensive. Their free tier is Aternos. Campfire Hosting - Also pay-by-the-minute but cheaper than Exaroton. No "free tier", only has free 5 credits which equals to around 1 hour for 4GB RAM but I can trust their server reliability and speed, and their support team actually is helpful and will try to resolve your problems. The pay-by-the-minute strategy will benefit for a group of friends that has different play times or can't dedicated an entire hardware for server hosting or a small server where you know its mostly going to be empty, since running a pay-by-the-minute server 24/7 will be a lot more expensive than traditional hosting but these credits will stay in your account even if you don't open the server for months so it ends up way cheaper than traditional hosting!

  • Campfire Hosting: Only Pay for the Time You Play!

Why pay for a Minecraft server 24/7 when you only play a few hours? With Campfire Hosting, you only pay when your server is actually online! It's a pay-as-you-play model, so you save money by only using credits when your server is active.

How does it work? Purchase credits, and they’re only deducted while your server is running. When it’s offline, your credits stay untouched beyond a small, affordable server storage fee. Plus, your server automatically boots up whenever someone joins, stays on for as long as you’re playing, and shuts down when everyone logs off.

Campfire Hosting supports all your favorite server types like Forge, Paper, and Fabric, and comes with an easy-to-use admin panel. Manage your server with features like a server properties editor, CPU & memory monitoring, a log viewer, command prompt, and more!
