⭐ 1 star – Avoid at all costsWe bought a car from Cars Under 3000 in July and it has been a complete nightmare from the moment we bought it.Just four months later, the car suffered a serious timing chain failure, leaving us with a repair bill of over £3,500 .This is despite being explicitly told at the point of sale that the car had been well serviced and that the timing chain would last the lifetime of the vehicle. The warranty they provided was practically worthless. It was the lowest level of cover available, this was not properly explained, and it refused to pay out for this major engine failure, leaving us fully out of pocket. When we asked for proof of the service they claimed to have carried out before sale, we were sent documents that raised serious concerns. The “service invoice” had no mileage recorded, appeared to be a generic template, and was only produced after we challenged them — which does not inspire any confidence in its authenticity. When we raised our legal rights, we were dismissively told that consumer rights are a “grey area”, which is simply untrue.Overall, this dealer sold us a car that was clearly not fit for purpose, then attempted to deflect responsibility when major faults appeared within months.Cars Under 3000? More like cars that will cost you £3,000+ after the sale. Avoid. Proper cowboys. In response….Your reply publicly misstates the Consumer Rights Act 2015.For clarity, within the first 6 months of purchase, the law presumes a fault was present or developing at the time of sale, and the burden of proof is on the dealer, not the customer. This is not optional and not a “grey area”.An MOT, test drive, or PDI does not assess timing chains and does not override statutory rights. A major timing chain and camshaft failure within four months is exactly the type of fault the Act is designed to cover. You also did not address the concerns raised about the service documentation provided, which was generated minutes before being emailed, contains no mileage, and appears to be a generic template rather than contemporaneous evidence.I am still awaiting a resolution in line with your legal obligations. But have been ignored on emails with very little help .
