Great idea and can’t really fault Carwow but let down but unscrupulous car dealers.
My car got sold at auction for £14,700, I detailed every mark and fault on the car in great detail, as per the process. The dealer sent their ‘expert’ to collect the car, who clearly couldn’t find anything wrong with it so decided to make up a fault with the timing chain. The car was a BMW with the B48 engine and 30,000 miles and full BMW service history, oil changes every 3-5000 miles. One of the most reliable engines in the world.
The dealer said that the best they could do was £13,300. I said that was fine, I’d find another buyer and asked the expert to leave.
I was then harassed by the dealer for a further 3 hours and 10 phone calls, saying how I’d wasted their time and it had cost them £200 to get their expert to me. I stood my ground, but eventually they wore me down and I accepted £14,200.
Yes, it’s only £500 but that isn’t the point. They aren’t supposed to win the auction then haggle with you for hours to get the price they want.
