Had to twice use the Home Emergency cover from the home insurance policy. First time was the boiler not functioning. It was not until around 48 hours afterwards that someone turned up. So much for 24 hour emergency cover.Second time now ongoing: Minor kitchen fire in fireplace which melted some wires and left house with no power. Telephoned the emergency line and for hours heard nothing until following morning, so telephoned again. Subsequently got a call from an electrician (hours later). He had agreed to the job but he did not hear back confirmation from Ceta or the emergency service and consequently took another job. This he related to us by telephone from West Yorkshire! Around 120 miles from our house!!! Ridiculous that the "service" didn't engage someone nearer - we're not in the middle of nowhere! It meant no visit for several more hours, and now 24 hours later this evening we're still in in the dark, no power, no heating, nothing, (and one vulnerable adult here) while a man is supposedly travelling from West Yorkshire 120 miles away to attend! You couldn't make it up, it's ridiculous.Hope we never have to make a basic claim on the policy. Time for change.
