Our conveyancing solicitor never returned calls, nor did they inform us that they were taking planned leave which we only discovered the day we were due to exchange. Our buyers were annoyed and we finally got a call from a replacement that evening asking if we had received various settlement documents, which we hadn’t. Very poor customer service and handover. Fortunately we had no onward chain. On the day of completion, I called as requested by letter at 11am and continued calling until well into the afternoon to no avail - meanwhile our buyers had arrived with half a dozen horses. Luckily we had secured rented accommodation and could vacate but again, very poor communication. We expected better from Chattertons.
