My son was struggling to excel in textbook based science classes at our homeschool co-op and I personally don't like the way they are formatted either. He's in 9th grade this year and pretty mathematically brained and has had no issues with this curriculum. I found the cost extremely reasonable and he has been able to complete the daily work independently. This curriculum is as inquiry based as one can manage with a mostly hands-off homeschool science. There are not a ton of labs and a few of the supplies were a little challenging to track down but it is a fantastic introductory course that I feel good about putting on his high school transcript. The creator, Jason, is also very responsive with e-mail questions/help. For what it's worth, my background is teaching High School Science and I have been very pleased with the content and level of rigor for my non-conventional learner. I will be buying Physics for next year and likely re-buying them both for my daughter in the future.
