Worst "Tax Advice" ever - Facing Prosecution!I went to Churchill Tax Advisers after hearing about Jamal Khan. He said that was an expert in tax and he boasted to me how he used to regularly get the better of the Revenue AKA HMRC.I had a business which was just surviving and thus I went to him in the hopes that my tax would be optimised. The first warning sign was when he said I could pay "nothing in tax". These were his words not mine. I should have realised here that the tax strategy he was offering was going to lead to serious consequences. Remember, if something sounds too good to be true, it is too good to be true.When he had written up the tax strategy he had given me, I noticed that it was completely different to what he had said in person. When I asked him about it, he told me not to worry and he even reprimanded me and said that since I am not a tax expert, I should listen to him.Jamal Khan deliberately writes a different tax strategy to what has been said in person so that he can avoid any allegations of misconduct.I foolishly went along with his tax strategy and the amount of tax I paid went down a lot. Even though he was billing me well over £20,000, I still felt that it was a win as I was paying less at the end of the day. Admittedly, Jamal's high fees took up most of the savings.All was well until a HMRC inspector turned up at my front door and was saying that I could go to jail for tax evasion. Keep in mind, I had never got into any trouble for tax before and I had no idea what he had meant.When I went to him so that he could help me regarding this tax investigation, he quoted me an extremely high price. I decided to go to another accountant who told me that Jamal's tax strategy was bound to get me in trouble with HMRC and that it is not a standard practice. Had I not gone along with Jamal's strategy in the first place, my business and myself would have ended up saving money!Because he ended up writing something different on paper, I can't even show the Revenue any proof. I am currently in the process of winding up my company.Please avoid Jamal - learn from my experience.
