I had a very unpleasant experience with Ciao Andiamo this time around. The staff felt disconnected and disorganized, and they struggled to complete even basic planning tasks. I was charged $300 for a custom itinerary that was never actually completed, which was extremely frustrating and disappointing.
I ultimately walked away due to personal timing issues, but stepping back allowed me to reflect on the overall experience. Unfortunately, it is clear that the quality of service at Ciao has declined over the years. I originally used them for my honeymoon about ten years ago and had a great experience at the time. This recent engagement was meant to be special as well, a 10 year reunion trip, but it fell far short of expectations.
When comparing pricing and offerings, it became clear that Ciao was proposing essentially the same product I could find elsewhere for nearly double the price, with little to no meaningful differentiation or added value. The premium pricing was not supported by the level of service provided.
My takeaway is that negotiation is critical, as pricing does not appear transparent and it is easy to overpay if you do not push back. I would strongly recommend exploring other travel planning companies before committing to Ciao Andiamo. Based on my experience, there are better options available that offer greater value, professionalism, and follow through.
