We employed the agency for 6 months during 2018. We made it clear at the initial interview that long term care was required and that consistancy (ie same carer) was essential.Carers sent were generally very good but instead of remaining long term they changed every few weeks as were either going back to South Africa for holidays or had other commitments. We subsequently learned that the carers working for this agency are self employed and the longest contract they can be given is for 6 weeks at a time. ..also that many self employed carers work for several different agencies as well as doing private work. Despite many promises we never did achieve consistancy of care (even after agreeing to have a rotation of 2-3 carers who would be permanent ) and the constant change of carers was incredibly unsettling and time consuming. In addition we were sent accounts intended for other clients on 2 occasions as well as being sent incorrect accounts.We eventually gave up and opted for employing privatelyI initially recommended the agency to many friends/family/colleagues etc on the basis of the standard of their carers but I would not do so in future (other than if a short term placement is required) as the coordination left a lot to be desired ( even the carers themselves attested to this).
