April Foster
Company lied and didn't turn up for measurements

I booked a measurement appointment last week for today (Mon 12th April at 9am), for cafe-style shutter blinds for 6 windows and a full shutter blinds for 1 window...but no one turned up for measuring today. So I contacted the company and spoke with Tiffany Fullone, the company owner at 9.05am (as I have booked appointments with other shutter blinds companies for today and tomorrow to receive multiple quotes).Apparently Tiffany had sent me an email and called me on Thursday 8th April to confirm that they would need to reschedule the appointment. But when we checked this wasn't the case. We received 2 emails from the company, 1 to confirm the viewing when we booked it last week, and the other was received yesterday to confirm that the 9am viewing today was still pressing ahead. After checking my phone and there were no missed calls from the company for last Thursday either, but there was an answer phone message received yesterday (Sunday) asking me to call the company (but they failed to mention anything about them needing to reschedule the appointment). Nobody likes being lied to, which is what this company has done, even before the first measuring appointment. Plus, they've wasted my valuable limited annual leave time, where I could have booked an alternative shutter blind company for a quote instead.Unfortunately they've fallen short at the first hurdle and they won't be receiving our custom. And we're thankful that this has happened before we entered any purchase transaction contract with them, as we could have lost our deposit if they didn't follow through properly on the order. If a company can lie to you from the start, it makes you wonder what will follow, so we do not recommend purchasing from this company. We have just had our first appointment with David from Moreton Blinds (which arrived promptly on time) and was extremely helpful and informative. He'd previously worked for Hilary Blinds for 20+ years, so has a lot more experience than 1 year of selling shutter blinds (like Cotswold Shutter Co), which immediately instilled more confidence in his service and products. We have an old 1700's Cotswold stone house, with odd shaped/spayed windows, and this didn't phase David at all. So If you're in the Cotswolds and have a quirky sized and shaped house, you will be better off going with a local company like Moreton Blinds, where you will have 100% confidence that they will follow through on your order (most likely correctly measured and fitted first time). David from Moreton Blinds was honest about lead times and is able to beat any other shutter blind quotes. He also fits the blinds himself, alongside a local carpenter so there's continuity of service.Additionally, I work in Intellectual Property, being a part-qualified patent and trademark attorney. And I have also noticed that the Cotswold Shutter Co (in Moreton), has set up this company in less than the last 12 months on the 26th June 2020 under the name of an existing name for a very good shutter company based in Cheltenham (called The Cotswold Shutter Company).Although the Cheltenham-based company has not registered their brand as a trademark, they will have accrued unregistered trademark rights through the goodwill and brand reputation that they've built up over the last 20years. This means that this Moreton-based Cotswold Shutter Co Ltd are passing off the goodwill and brand reputation that the Cheltenham-based Cotswold Shutter Company has built up over the last 20years in joinery and carpentry (and therefore has the expertise and skill to build his own shutter blinds). I'm surprised the Moreton-based Cotswold Shutter Co company hasn't received a litigation suit for the unregistered trademark and goodwill infringement from the Cheltenham-based company. We like to support local companies, but this is not the type of company we like to give our custom to, if they blatantly lie and deceive their customers and other local like-businesses. Healthy competition to improve customer experience is great for consumers, but not when it's done deceptively. You can tell a lot about a company and the people running it, by looking at how they do business.Avoid and choose a more reputable company, with more experience, better customer service, honesty and integrity.
